In Praise Of Love (theatre)

Talking Scarlet are back in Eastbourne! And they're performing a Terence Rattigan play at the Devonshire Park Theatre for a week. In Praise Of Love is a powerful family drama asking difficult questions about relationships and honesty.

The almost unbearably moving story of veiled emotions running deep is based on the true life situation of Rex Harrison's wife, Kay Kendall. Lydia is shielding her husband, Sebastian, from the knowledge that she is dying from leukaemia. But Sebastian does know and is seeking to spare her. She dies without either of them openly acknowledging their true feelings.

There's a fantastic review of the production in the Derbyshire Times from when it was performed at the Pomegranate Theatre in January. The cast then was George Telfer (Dangerous Obsession) as Sebastian, Jo Castleton (Suddenly At HomeDeathtrap) as Lydia, John Hester (Murder Weapon) as family friend Mark, and Griffin Steven (Deathtrap) as their son Joey. I'm hoping we get the same four because I've loved their work before! Just discovered, Eastbourne cast will be George Telfer, Jo Castleton, John Hester and Chris Sheridan.
