Wind. Based on the Robert Wilder novel of the same name, its screenplay was written by George Zuckerman and the film was directed by Douglas Sirk. Many critics believe this to be one of his finest melodramas.
A wealthy oil family living in Texas is shaken by scandal. Alcoholic playboy Kyle Hadley (Robert Stack) marries Lucy (Lauren Bacall). However, Lucy is secretly loved by Kyle’s poor but hard-working best friend Mitch (Rock Hudson) who, in turn, is pursued by Kyle’s sister Marylee (Dorothy Malone). When Lucy announces she is pregnant, Kyle attacks her, assuming the child is the result of adultery with Mitch. Lucy suffers a miscarriage and the drunken Kyle sets out to kill Mitch.
