A very topical film is being screened three times daily at the Curzon this week. Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom is a South African film that charts Mandela's extraordinary life, from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected President of South Africa. It is based on Mandela's 1994 autobiography of the same title. Producer Anant Singh was allowed the film rights shortly after the book was published but it was not until sixteen years later that the screenplay by William Nicholson was completed. Long Walk To Freedom has been directed by Justin Chadwick and stars Idris Elba, Naomie Harris, Tony Kgoroge, Riaad Moosa, Jamie Bartlett, Lindiwe Matshikiza, Terry Pheto and Deon Lotz.
