Lady Crabtree (talk)

Happy New Year!

The Langham Hotel on Eastbourne seafront is the venue for a talk-with-a-difference that I spotted being advertised on Eastbourne's Freegle website.

Lady Crabtree
To raise funds for our local branch of the RNLI, Lady Crabtree will take a whimsical look at growing older and will prove that the advancing years are to be enjoyed rather than endured. With a mixture of amusing personal anecdotes, comic monologues and sage advice, Lady Crabtree will share her wry observations about various aspects of aging, such as dealing with fashion for the over-50s; coping with health and beauty issues; failing memory, lost glasses… and how to fight back against the modern age. In this celebration of maturity, Lady Crabtree will reveal that there are many advantages to growing old disgracefully!

In the Summer of 1976 Paul James was introduced to the comedy double act of Patrick Fyffe and George Logan, aka Hinge and Bracket, and was inspired by this extremely clever female impersonation, where the line between reality and make-believe became blurred. While appearing in cabaret two years later, Paul decided to create his own character. Lady Crabtree made her first public appearance. Originally intended to be a single performance only, Paul was surprised by the audience demand to see more of Lady C and so the act began to develop.

Langham Hotel, Fri 10th Jan, 10:30-12:00.
Tickets £1, available by calling 01323 731451 or emailing
