Emperor The Stag (music)

Thanks to my friend Chrissie for recently drawing my attention to the local band who are the focus of this post.

With their debut album, Fantasy To Bleak, being released this Monday coming, the third of February, Emperor The Stag are set for its launch gig at Eastbourne's Under Ground Theatre very soon afterwards. I've been listening to some of the new songs from their Facebook page and am especially liking the second track, Leaves, and the lyrics of Animals. These tinny laptop speakers definitely aren't doing the music justice though. I need to hear the songs played through a decent system to appreciate the giant sound of Glue!

The band is made up of Nick Webb (vocals, guitar), Alex Spiers (drums, vocals), Rob Baird (electric guitar) and Harry Whitburn (bass, vocals). The indie four piece have already earned themselves an exciting reputation with BBC airplay and comparisons to American garage rock heroes ‘Death Cab for Cutie’ as well as British anthem stompers ‘Doves’. The YouTube video below is White car never Comes from their debut EP Speedwell Drive.

Under Ground Theatre, Sat 8th Feb, 19:45.
Tickets £4 in advance, available online, by calling 0845 680 1926, or in person from the Under Ground Theatre and Eastbourne Tourist Information Centre. If any tickets remain, they will be £5 on the door.
