Children Of Eden (theatre)

The children of Cavendish School will be taking over the stage of the Devonshire Park Theatre at the end of January when they perform the musical, Children Of Eden.

Based on the book of Genesis, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by John Caird, Children Of Eden was originally conceived as an amateur American musical and performed at a religious high school theatre camp in Illinois. However, once Stephen Schwartz had extended the work into the full two-act musical it now is, the Royal Shakespeare Company got involved and staged the first professional performances.

The first act begins with the story of Adam and Eve having to leave the Garden of Eden and then moves to show their life outside the Garden but with their children, Cain and Abel. Act two is set many generations later and tells the story of Noah and the Flood.

Devonshire Park Theatre, Wed 29th Jan to Sat 1st Feb, 19:00.
Saturday matinee, 14:30.
