In the frantic run-up to Christmas, an oasis of calm is provided in Eastbourne town centre on the morning of Saturday 21st December. That’s when guitar/vocal duo Bob and Adela are returning to the Under Ground Theatre, to perform at its weekly coffee morning from 10am until noon. I'm sure I've seen Bob Taylor play before but am struggling to remember exactly where - I think it was White Horse Folk.
Bob and Adela’s repertoire includes exciting versions of old favourites such as “My Funny Valentine”, “Cry Me a River”, and “Fever”. But this year they have also been working on a CD that will bring their own compositions to a wider audience. Hence, their show at the UGT is likely to include songs by Bob such as “Home at Last”, about a passionate clandestine love affair, and “Missing You”, about the pain of a broken heart. Originals by Adela that you can expect to hear include “Simple Song”, which is about a long-distance relationship and was written at 3am after a late-night phone call, and “Before The Morning”, another composition from the wee small hours, written during a storm when she was spending a summer living in a hut in someone’s garden by the sea.
Under Ground Theatre, Sat 21st Dec, 10:00-12:00.
