Umbrella Decorating Workshop (art)

There's something a bit different going on at the end of August in preparation for the Hailsham Arts Festival Parade on the 7th of September. The decoration theme of the Parade is The Jungle Book and Radiator Arts will be running a workshop at the Hailsham Community Civic Centre a week before to give guidance and inspiration to anyone who is a bit unsure of what to do or in need of inspiration.

Based in Hastings, Radiator Arts was founded in 2001. The team of artists, designers, performers and volunteers are skilled in a wide range of media and disciplines andtheir aim is to provide innovative workshops and unique site-specific events that lift the spirits and expand the imagination of participants and audiences alike. Their own website has some great photos of other events and festivals with which they have previously been involved.

The Costume and Umbrella Parade on the 7th of September will start next to the War Memorial in Vicarage Fields and process around the town to start the Festival week in style! Everyone is welcome – get together with your friends, dress up and bring your decorated umbrella or parasol. Aassemble in Vicarage Fields by 11am ready for the parade around the town centre (route to be confirmed) to the accompaniment of live music.
