Penny Black (musical theatre)

A brand new musical comedy is premiering at the Under Ground Theatre at the end of September. The production is being staged to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in Eastbourne so all the proceeds will go to help local people living with cancer. You might have noticed me shouting on Facebook and Twitter about a Crowdfunder appeal in August to raise the funds needed to hire the theatre?

Written by local playwright John Collings, Penny Black is being directed by Harriet Beard and all the music has been composed by Ed Weston. I've embedded the Soundcloud link for a song from the show - I'm At A Crossroads In My Life sung by Lisa Coleman - at the end of this post. The show is a romantic comedy about Penny's life with her domineering husband and shows how, despite her circumstances, Penny manages to discover her own hidden talents and find true love.

Under Ground Theatre, Sat 28th Sep, 19:30.
Tickets £5, available from Eastbourne Tourist Information Centre or by calling 01323 640955.
