An Audience With Charles Dickens (theatre)

After the Strange Case of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde at the beginning of September, the Under Ground Theatre will have another historical one man play, An Audience With Charles Dickens, performed by the great author's great great grandson.

Gerald Dickens created his first one-man show in 1993 which was a theatrical performance of A Christmas carol that had been inspired by his ancestor's own readings of the work in the 1860s. Gerald has also created shows of Nicholas Nickleby, Dr Marigold and Sikes And Nancy. As an audiobook fan, I was interested to see that several of these are available from his on website on CD or as audio downloads. I might try one out on my bus commutes!

An Audience With Charles Dickens will be performed scenes from a number of Charles Dickens' popular stories including Nicholas Nickleby, Oliver Twist, Pickwick Papers and David Copperfield.

Under Ground Theatre, Fri 20th Sep, 19:30.
Tickets £11 adults, £9 UGT members, available online, by calling 0845 680 1926, or in person at the Box Office and Eastbourne Tourist Information Office.
