Ropemaker Theatre Company Variety Show auditions

A Facebook post yesterday by Sharon Davies of the Ropemaker Theatre Company drew my attention to a potential opportunity for specialty entertainers in the Hailsham area. You might remember their first production last year, the mistaken identity farce Comedy Of Terrors? Later on this year they are planning to stage a completely different one night show, a revival of vintage television variety show The Good Old Days which they will entitle Celebrating The Good Olde Days. The TV show ran for an amazing thirty years from 1953 to 1983 and recreated the atmosphere of the Victorian and Edwardian music halls. The audience would dress up and join in with community singing.

SD: Ropemaker are looking for speciality acts – jugglers, magicians, actors, singers, comedians, acrobats, snake charmers and, well, you get the message, to appear on the evening. Some acts have already been booked, but there’s plenty of room for more.

Auditions will be held on Saturday the 7th September, and need to be prebooked so if anyone is interested, or knows anybody who can ‘do a turn’, contact Hailsham Pavilion on 01323 841414 contact Ropemaker via their website. The performance will be on Saturday the 9th of November so prospective acts will need to be available on that night too!
