I spotted Kevin Pallister's name through the bus window a few days ago, on the chalk board outside the British Queen pub in Polegate. He is singing there on the 19th of July. I then saw he also has another local gig soon - the beginning of August at the Wheatsheaf Inn in Willingdon.
Perhaps better known as an actor, Kevin Pallister played the murderous teacher Graham Clark in Emmerdale (YTV), which earned him an "Inside Soap" Award and a British Soap Awards nomination for Best Villain. His photo is also on some of the posters adorning the Devonshire Park Theatre's corridors - Roy in Neville's Island, Fleshcreep in Jack And The Beanstalk. His musical theatre credits include Buddy in the Buddy Holly Story in London but I don't know whether theatrical singing first led him to try gigging, or whether the music was there before the acting.
Kevin says that he has been in several bands over the years, singing lead and backing vocals and playing guitar. He now fits in solo acoustic performances around his acting commitments. His set includes rock'n'roll, rock, folk and country songs, both vintage and contemporary.
Wheatsheaf Inn, Sat 3rd Aug, 20:30.
I think free admission but it is a pub!
