A three-night musical extravaganza will take over Stone Cross Memorial Hall in the middle of July when local award winning theatre group The Haven Players present their cabaret production, Around the World in 80 Minutes. Geoff Baker kindly told me more about the show ...
GB: Board Haven Airways for an exciting round the world trip in song and dance. It proves to be a colourful and fast-moving trip through ten countries with over twenty-six well known songs from the musicals, “Goodbye Mr Chips”, “Les Miserables”, “Cabaret”, “The Sound Of Music”, “Sister Act” and “The Lion King” to name but a few.
The songs and dances will feature a cast of over thirty including Haven Players' junior dancers and singers. Seating will be convivially arranged around tables and refreshments are included in the ticket price. There will be nibbles provided on the tables as well as tea/coffee and cake half way round the world. Audience members are welcome to bring their own stronger beverages if they would like.
Haven Players were originally formed in 1969 and put on three shows a year, the summer musical cabaret and two plays which range from serious drama to extreme farce. They are currently on the lookout for new friendly faces to join the group. If you would like to get involved, either on- or back-stage, please go along to the Memorial Hall on any Wednesday evening from about 7.30 or contact the Players through their website.
