The third installment of the Devonshire Park's Murder In The Park season is the comedy thriller Deathtrap written by Ira Levin. The play within a play was written in 1978 and its first outing on Broadway ran for nearly eighteen hundred performances winning a Tony Award in the process. The script is famed for its twists and turns, unexpected revelations and double-meaning dialogue.
The Eastbourne performances are being produced by talking Scarlet and will star Stephen Beckett, also the star of last year's Playing Dead.
Clifford Anderson, an unknown playwright, has sent a copy of his latest play to accomplished playwright Sidney Bruhl for his comments and feedback. Sidney is struggling to write his next play and, impressed by the newcomer's efforts, he persuades his wife Myra to help him plagiarise the work.
The plan appears to be foolproof, but when Clifford arrives at the house, events take an unexpected and sinister direction ...
