A contemporary of Alexis Corner, Georgie Fame, The Small Faces and Jimi Hendrix, Washington started his musical career in the UK while being posted over here with the United States Air Force in the early 1960s. The Ram Jam Band was first formed around this time although they then broke up in 1969. Washington took a break from music for several years choosing to study hypnotism and meditation instead. He was tempted to return to the stage after the Dexy's Midnight Runners single Geno became a hit in 1980 and seems to have worked pretty much constantly for the last twenty years, touring with his band since 2007.
