Target Dance

An evening of exciting contemporary dance is on the cards at the Congress Theatre in mid-January. Entitled Target Dance, the performance will bring together students from the University of Brighton's Eastbourne Campus with pupils from local schools. The University students have been leading a number of creative workshops and projects with the pupils in preparation for this showcase. They will also be performing work that has been created for their degree programmes.

Last year's Target Dance cast had 100 university students performing together with 200 school pupils. These included the all female FIDGET and the all male KICK-START dance companies. The university students are all undergraduate Physical Education teacher training students from Chelsea School of Sport, part of the University of Brighton in Eastbourne. Fiona Smith, principal lecturer, said of the 2012 show: “Target Dance provides exciting opportunities. It allows pupils to experience the thrills of working in a large-scale theatre and for students from the university to experience the responsibility, challenges and rewards of choreographing and presenting work with children.

Congress Theatre, Sat 12th Jan, 19:00.
Tickets £6.50, available online, by calling 01323 412000 or in person at the Box Office.
