Mask Making Workshop

The Plague Doctor & Green Man
Did you see the award-winning Plague Doctor and Green Man at the Towner Gallery's Night Folk event last month? Their detailed masks have been a Twitter talking point and The Plague Doctor is now going to be running a mask making workshop so you can sign up to learn how to create your own marvels. I dragged him away from crow scaring to find out more.

The three-day workshop will be held at St Andrew's School, which is in the Meads area of Eastbourne, from Monday the 17th until Wednesday the 19th of December for three hours each day, 10:00-13:00. Attendees are expected to be able to take away at least one complete mask that they have made themselves and materials will be provided. Various construction techniques using plaster and card will be explored, followed by different finishing techniques. There will be demonstrations but the emphasis is hands-on time with one-to-one assistance if it is needed.

The workshop is open to both adults and children and is being run as part of the Professional Training aspect of Beach Hut Courses. The Plague Doctor is CRB checked and fully insured - and probably not quite so scary looking in real life, although I've not seen him without the mask so ... !

St Andrew's School, Mon 17th - Wed 19th Dec, 10:00-13:00.
£45 for all three days, bookable online in advance.
