Andy Drudy (music)

Guitarist Andy Drudy will be in the limelight at Chapter 12 at the end of November as he makes his debut at their Tuesday Music Night. Seaford resident Andy is a 'seasoned' musician who has been playing professionally for over thirty years. He is also a keen cyclist who, having completed Lands End to John O'Groats in eleven days, looked around for a slightly bigger challenge and ended up cycling across America - twice!

His solo EP was released in July this year under the name The Andy Drudy Disorder on the Splash Point label - also the home of Liane Carroll and Ian Shaw. Having been involved with other musicians' projects in the past, The Blues Civilisation is entirely his own. As he says in an interview with The Peverett Phile, "I did not have anything to say up till now" which I think is an admirable sentiment and a strong reason to record. Andy wrote the songs for The Blues Civilisation over a number of years and says that they are not all typically blues songs. His influences appear to be more blues influenced musicians than pure blues itself and he cites men such as Ritchie Blackmore and Tom Waits, and the bands Steely Dan and Led Zeppelin.

Old Boot Inn, Seaford, Fri 23rd Nov, (with the Allstars).
Chapter 12 Wine Bar, Hailsham, Tue 27th Nov, 19:30.
