The new jazz season at the Underground Theatre kicks of in a couple of weeks with the Roy Hilton Quintet who will be performing 'A Night In Birdland'. The new show is inspired by the Birdland Jazz Club in New York which was named after Charlie 'Bird' Parker. Many famous muscians played at the club in the 1950s and 1960s, including Parker himself.
The band appearing at the Underground will be Roy Hilton (piano), Gary Kavanagh (trumpet), Alex Garnett (saxophones), Bobby Worth (drums) and Dan Sheppard (bass). They will be performing music by Charlie Parker, Dizzie Gillespie, Thelonius Monk and others.
