Scenes from La Traviata (music)

OperaCoast is an exciting new venture for Eastbourne, an opera workshop that will take place at the Birley Centre over the weekend 20th to 22nd July with a public performance of the results on the final day - so no pressure then!

The opera that has been selected is Verdi's La Traviata and the lucky participants will be rehearsing selected scenes with professional music & theatre directors Gregory Rose and Susannah Waters, together with Nigel Foster at the piano during the workshop. The soloists were auditioned at the beginning of June and are probably learning their music as I type! They will be supported by a chorus and the ensemble will perform Act II, scenes 7 to 15 and, no, I haven't got a clue which bit that is. (Answers in the Comments below if you know!)

The Sunday afternoon performance will present a fascinating glimpse into opera in the making, dismantling it and showing it from the 'inside'. There will be a narration of the workshop process - characters, interpretations, ensembles and music. The performance will be in English.

The OperaCoast facebook group for the event has details of the performance.
