Kevin Barber, Mark Taylor & Amy Reed (music)

I am almost sure I saw Kevin Barber and Mark Taylor at the Royal Oak folk club in Lewes, but it was at least ten years ago and my memory is a bit hazy. If it was them, I can confidently say they are excellent. If it wasn't, then whoever I did see were great but I'll have to base the rest of this post on listening to the recorded music from their website

The Brighton-based duo will be playing the coffee morning slot at the Underground Theatre on Saturday the 30th of March, where they will also be joined by fiddle player Amy Reed. They perform acoustic roots music from many traditions but particularly Americana songs. Kevin Barber plays guitar and mandolin and is a veteran of the folk scene. Mark Taylor is quite the multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, banjo, mandolin, dobro, harmonica, ukelele, melodica, stylophone. You'll have to wait and see how many will make their appearance at the Underground! Both men sing and have perfected the beautiful Americana harmonies. Expect to hear some classic songs as well as original compositions.

Barber and Taylor have recorded six albums, the latest of which is from 2010 and is entitled Pilgrim's Postcard.

Underground Theatre, Sat 18th Aug, 10:00 - 12:00.
Free admission.
