Bohemian Rhapsody (music)

The Congress is the biggest of the Eastbourne Theatres venues, but even so it might not be big enough to contain the spectacular celebration of Freddie Mercury and Queen that is Bohemian Rhapsody!

The cast of 25 performers, including an onstage band, will be led by Jonathan Ansell (G4) and Simon Bowman (Phantom Of The Opera, Miss Saigon) and also includes West End stars such as Sabrina Aloueche, Erin Cornell, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Andrew Derbyshire, Duncan Heather, Lucinda Shaw and Rachael Wooding. The production is not intended to reproduce a Queen gig, so don't go expecting to see Ansell 'being' Freddie Mercury, but will be a Broadway-style show with all of Queen's greatest hits. To give you an idea, the producer, David King, has previously created the Michael Jackson tribute show, Man In The Mirror, and also the amazing Spirit Of The Dance and is apparently the largest employer of dancers in Europe. The cast are currently in rehearsals and are perfecting their performances of Killer Queen, Barcelona, We Are The Champions, We Will Rock You and, of course, Bohemian Rhapsody.

The show has a short UK tour taking in only three venues before it moves abroad to Monaco. Eastbourne is the third venue after Newcastle and Killarney so tickets will probably sell fast.
