Beach Hut Courses (art)

Beach Hut Courses began life providing educational courses for art teachers. This is still an important part of their business but they also offer children's holiday clubs with a fun art programme as well as a variety of non-art activities. This Summer holiday, there are three weeks to choose from: the 23rd to the 27th July, the 30th July to the 3rd August and the 6th to the 10th of August.

The 23rd-27th July club will be run by potter Graham Matthews and will be themed around the Bloomsbury set and Charleston inspired pottery. Children can choose to create candlesticks, coiled pots or slipware platters based on Duncan Grant fabric designs, and there wil also be the opportunity to paint a portrait of a clothed model in a Charleston setting.

The 30th July-3rd Aug club will be run by artist Jan Turner and will have an environmental theme. The club will be using materials on the nearby Eastbourne beach to create environmental art through individual expression and team working.

All the clubs are based at St Andrew's School in Meads. They run from 10am until 4pm and cost £30 per day which includes all materials. Bookings can be made for the whole week or individual days, but the club is popular so early booking is advised! As well as the club leader, there will also be a full team of support staff. Non-art activities include games of rounders, football or French cricket, and weather permitting, picnics, beach trips and ice creams.

Book online through the Beach Hut Courses website: http://www.beachhutcourses.co.uk/
